History and evolution of mobile phones



Today we can’t imagine our life without mobile phones. Today different mobile phones with multiple feature are designed to satisfy our daily needs. Human need for communication over long distance existed since evolution.

The origin of mobile phone technology evolved during the second world war. But know the technology changed our lifestyle in many ways. Today the design of mobile phones has changed a lot. Earlier the mobile phones were not sophisticated and smooth that it looks like before. Here are some mobile phones that were crucial for the evolution of technology.

Motorola DynaTAC 8000X

On 3rd april 1973, Martin Cooper, a researcher of Motorola made the first mobile phone telephone call. It was the first commercial mobile phones. The phone went for a sale in 1983.

Motorola MicroTAC 9800X    
         
This was the smallest mobile phone that could buy in 1989. This was the first mobile phone that has flip design. There was a mouth piece folded over the keypad. It had a big antenna.

Motorola International 3200

It was launched in 1992. It was the first digital hand sized mobile phone made.

Nokia 1011

It was launched in the year of 1992. It was another benchmark in the development of mobile phone technology. It was the first mass produced mobile phone with GSM capabilities.

IBM Simon

It was in the year of 1994. It was the first phone with a touchscreen and various kinds of applications.

Nokia 9110 Communicator

The nokia communicator looked just like an ordinary phone, but once opened, a keyboard and a big LCD screen was revealed. While considering with other mobile phones, this mobile phones had some basic internet connectivity.

Motorola StarTAC

It was the mobile phone to introduce iconic clampshell or flip mechanism. PC World magazine ranked the starTAC  at the 6 th place in its 50 greatest gadgets of the past 50 years.

Nokia 8110

In the same year when Motorola released starTAC, nokia  released Nokia 8110. It is the first slider type of phone. There was a protective cover that could be extended to reveal the keypad.

Ericsson R380

It is just a combination of mobile phone and a personal digital assistant. It was the first mobile phone to be marked as a smartphone. It had a black and white touch screen which was partially covered using a flip panel.

Nokia 3310

This phone helped Nokia to dominate the mobile phone market for a long time. It is quite famous for its durability and long lasting battery.
